The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin

Louise the protagonist recieves the news that her husband is dead. I do not relate to her because if I received bad new like this I would be in shock. It is normal I guess because I have seen people who cry right away after they receive bad news, but to me it would be normal to be in shock and then try to find out if things are real and then maybe cry.

The story takes place in Loise's house and it only takes one hour for it all to happen. In the story when Loise starts figuring out her life now that her husband is gone makes me believe that he was a bad husband which makes him the antagonist. She is an individual character. The plot is interesting, she is told the bad news, then she has mixed feelings about the issue later she starts having an idea of she will do, then as she is feeling better she learns that her husband is alive and the denouement comes, when she dies. The conflict is internal because before she dies it seems that she needs to make a decision and overcome pain. The conflict is Man vs Circumstances because she has to face people around her once she decides that her life will change for good now that her husband has died. the story is told in third person omniscient objective. The theme could be Things are not always as they appear to be. The author uses irony.
